Basil Chicken

Brown chicken (2 1/2 to 3 lb chicken) in 1/2 c. flour, salt & pepper.

Medium White Sauce (cook to boiling & then pour over chicken)

2 T. butter
2 T. flour
1 c. milk
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp basil

Cover with foil

350° for 35-45 min.

Barbecue Chicken

Place cut up chicken on foil covered cookie sheet

In saucepan put:

1/2 c. salad oil
1/2 c. lemon juice
1/4 c. water
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. Monsodium Glutamate
1/4 tsp. pepper (white or black)
2 Tbsp. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. paprika
1 Tbsp. chopped onion

Simmer for 5 minutes

Place 325° (after 20 minutes start basting)

Chicken Paprika

Melt 4 tsp. shortening in large skillet.

Brown 2 onions (chopped or sliced)

Add chicken & 1 qt. water
1 clove of garlic
1 tomato diced
1 small green pepper chopped
1 Tbsp. paprika
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper

Cook for 45 min. & strain liquid & add

1 pt. sour cream mixed with
1 tsp. flour

For 2 1/2 lb broiler quartered.

Chicken Mushroom Bake
375° for 1 hr or till tender

In 13×9″ pan arrange pieces of chicken

1 can cream of mushroom soup
1/4 c. milk
1 can drained mushrooms & pieces (4 oz)
1 envelope of dry onion soup mix

Combine all.

Pour over chicken & bake at 375° for 1 hr or till tender

May prepare ahead, refrigerate.

Chicken Cobbler

2 c. diced cooked chicken
1 c. cooked rice
2 c. chicken broth
1/4 c. margarine
1 c. all-purpose flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 Tbsp. sugar
1 c. milk

Mix first 3 ingredients.

Put margarine in 1 1/2 qt. round casserole and sit in oven 350° until melted.

Meanwhile, mix remaining ingredients.

Pour into casserole.

Spoon chicken mixture into center.

Bake about 50 minutes.

Let stand 5 min.

Serves 4 – 6.

Recipe Clipping For Tater Tot Casserole

Tater Tot Casserole

One and one-fourth lbs. hamburger, uncooked
One envelope dry onion soup mix
One can cream of mushroom soup, undiluted
One 10-oz. pkg. frozen Tater Tots

Layer hamburger in bottom of two-quart baking dish. Sprinkle dry onion soup mix over top. Spoon cream of mushroom soup over that, then Tater Tots. Bake, uncovered, in 350-degree oven one hour — Yields six servings.

Sweet potatoes
1/4 c. butter or margarine

1/2 c. orange juice

Front Of Recipe Card For Easy Jam Tarts

Easy Jam Tarts

2 – 8 oz pkg cream cheese softened
1/4 c milk
1/2 c butter or marg
1/2 tsp van.
1 1/2 c flour
1/4 c conf. sugar
desired fruit jam

In med. bowl beat cream cheese & milk til fluffy – set aside. In lg bowl cut butter into flour mixture til resemble coarse crumbs. Stir in half of c. cheese mixture til well combined. Shape in a ball in bowl.

Lightly flour board, roll to 12 1/2″ square. Use fluted cutter, trim pastry to 12″ sq.

Cut out 9 4×4″ sq. Cut sqs diagonally twice to form 4 triangles, make 36 triangles. Ungreased sheet. Prick with fork. Bake 350° – 15-20 min. till golden.

Cool. Spread each pastry with jam.

Med. bowl beat reserved c. cheese mixture with conf. sugar. Pastry tube stars, small pipe c. cheese around edges. Garnish.
