This is my favorite summer dish. This recipe was in my Betty Crocker cookbook, which I received as a gift from my mother in 1970. I had not made this until I had it at a pot-luck party in 1979. I loved it instantly. As I left, I asked the hostess what that special flavor was in the salad. She replied that it was garlic. At that time I was single and didn’t cook very much. I wasn’t familiar with garlic. I found the recipe and made it for myself, for my family and for all pot lucks after that.
