Dutch Egg Bread Recipe Clipping


1/4 cup butter or margarine
2 cups soft 1/2″ bread cubes
1/4 cup milk
1/4 teaspoon salt
dash pepper
6 eggs, beaten

Melt butter in a skillet. Add soft bread cubes and brown slightly. Combine milk, salt, pepper and beaten eggs. Pour over browned bread cubes and cook until done. Serve at once, with crisp bacon.

YIELD: 6 servings

Wow I didn’t know there was an actual recipe for this. My Dad grew up during the depression and he said his Mom made this because it was cheap to make and stretched the eggs. He made it for us a few times and it was rather good.
