Vintage Recipe For Swift's Prem Venetian Casserole

VENETIAN CASSEROLE in just 10 minutes!

Presto…magnifico! Just cube one can of Swift’s PREM and combine it with one can of minestrone soup (undiluted), 1/2 cup of water, and one cup of canned lima beans. Place in 1 1/2 quart casserole; sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese. Arrange prepared biscuits on a baking sheet, and bake them with the casserole in a very hot oven (450°F.) for 10 minutes. Top the casserole with biscuits. Makes four servings.

Broccoli & Rice Casserole

1 c. uncooked Min. rice
1/3 c. chopped onion
1/3 c. ” celery
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 cup water
8 oz. jar Cheese Whiz
1/2 stick oleo (slice up)
1 box frozen chopped broccoli

Stir together, bake 350° for 1 hour; uncovered.

Recipe Clipping For Hamburger Pie

Hamburger pie may well become a favorite dish at your house. It packs a lot of flavor in that biscuit crust!

Hamburger Pie
(Eight to 12 servings)

2 cups prepared baking powder biscuit mix
2/3 cup milk
1 1/2 pounds ground beef
1 small onion, minced
2 tablespoons butter
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
2 tablespoons pickle relish
1/2 cup catsup
1 cup sour cream
1 egg, slightly beaten
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1 cup grated cheddar cheese

Mix biscuit mix with milk. Form into a ball. Roll on a floured pastry cloth to fit bottom of a buttered 13 by 9 by 2-inch pan. Cook beef and onion in butter stirring frequently for 5 minutes. Add salt, pepper, pickle relish, and catsup. Spread over dough. Combine cream, egg, salt, and pepper. Spoon over all. Top with cheese. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes.

HAMBURGER AND NOODLE CASSEROLE

One box noodles Romanoff
One pound ground beef
One-half cup chopped onion
One can condensed mushroom soup
One-half cup milk
Two tablespoons chopped pimiento
One-fourth teaspoon thyme
Dash pepper
One cup soft bread crumbs
Two tablespoons melted butter
One-half cup shredded Cheddar cheese

Brown meat and onions (pour off excess grease). Stir in soup, milk, pimiento and seasonings. Add cooked noodle mixture. Top with crumbs and butter. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes. Sprinkle cheese on top and bake 5 minutes more.

Broccoli and Rice Casserole

2 pkg. chopped frozen broccoli, drained

Mix:

2 T. butter
1 can cream of mushroom or chicken soup
1 med. chopped onion
1 c. instant rice
1/2 c. milk
1 c. cheese spread

Pour over broccoli & stir. Bake 350° – 35 min.

1 can cream of chicken soup
1 pkg. frozen chopped broccoli, thawed
1 sm. jar Cheeze Whiz
1 c. rice, cooked according to pkg. directions

In 3 Tbsp. butter, saute:

1/2 c. diced celery
1/2 c. diced green pepper
1/4 c. diced onion

Combine rice, sauted vegetables and soup. Add broccoli, then stir. Pour into casserole dish. Over mixture, pour cheese. For best results, heat cheese in hot water in a sauce pan.

Bake casserole in 350 degree oven for 30-40 minutes.

Six-Layer Dinner

2 cups hamburger
2 cups sliced raw potatoes
2 cups chopped celery
1/2 cups diced onions
2 teaspoons salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 cup diced green pepper
2 cups canned tomatoes

Place potatoes in bottom of greased casserole.

Add celery, then hamburger, onion and pepper.

Sprinkle salt and pepper on each layer.

Pour tomatoes over mixture in dish and garnish with green pepper rings.

Bake 350° for 2 hours.

Serves 6-8.
