This is a well worn handwritten recipe card from the same author as Dutch Apple Cake and Cookies. I believe I’ve interpreted the writing accurately, but no guarantee.

The recipe lists the ingredients, but no directions or temperature or baking time included.

Molasses Cake

1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup butter
2 well beaten eggs
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 cup molasses
2 cups flour

last of all

1 cup boiling water mixed with 2 level tsp baking soda.

This is a very thin mixture
