All-At Once Spaghetti Dinner
1 lb. ground beef
1 med. onion, chopped
3 8-oz. cans Hunt’s Tomato Sauce
1 1/2 cups water
1/4 t. garlic powder
1/4 t. pepper
1/4 t. ground oregano
1 1/2 t. salt
1/2 c. sliced ripe olives (1 2 1/4-oz can) drained, optional
1/2 lb. spaghetti (uncooked)
1 c. shredded cheddar cheese (1/4 lb.)
Cook and stir beef and onion in a heavy 3-qt. saucepan until meat loses red color. Stir in seasonings and olives. Pour in 3 cans Hunt’s Tomato Sauce and water. Bring to boil. Break uncooked spaghetti in half, sprinkle in a little at a time, stirring it into the sauce. Cover tightly and simmer 25 to 30 minutes over low heat. Stir in cheddar cheese until cheese is melted. Makes 6 servings.
More Recipes For You To Enjoy:Discovered this recipe 40 years ago, on the inside of a matchbook cover; all of the recipes featured Hunt’s products (all of the little match books had been purchased in a box). Although Hunt’s doesn’t advertise like that anymore, this recipe was a great find then, and we’ve enjoyed it ever since. When my matchbook cover wore thin, I wrote the recipe on a recipe card and used that until I lost it in a grocery story. Fortunately, I had passed it on to family and friends, so I’ve retained the recipe, but I really don’t have to look at the recipe anymore either. Anyway, great recipe, and the dish is a family favorite.
I’ve had this recipe for years. I got it off of a Hunts Tomato sauce can somewhere around 1970. They had some good recipes on their cans at one time.
