BUTTERSCOTCH BROWNIES
1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted
2 cups brown sugar
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
2 cups flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 cup shredded coconut (optional)
1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Combine all ingredients, in order given, mixing well by hand. Batter will be very thick. Spread in two greased, 9-inch pie pans. Bake at 350 degrees for about 25 minutes. Cut while still warm. Store in airtight container if you like your brownies moist.

I am looking for a recipe I used many years ago way back in 1950 the recipe was call Butterscotch Squares. I’m not sure but I think it was a Betty Crocker cook book probably A 1930 or 1920 book. This is what I remember about the recipe Butter melted over low fire White Sugar added and nicely browned until golden there was no brown sugar in it. could you help me find this recipe book or just the recipe.
Alice if you google brownie betty crocker cookbook 1969 there is a brownie made with white sugar. I am not sure if it the right one, but it may at least be similar.
