This promo recipe from Crisco was clipped from a label (likely from a can of Crisco) and found in a large collection, date unknown. I’ve typed it below along with a scanned copy.

In a large skillet melt Crisco, add onion and cook for 5 minutes. Stir in ground beef and garlic salt; brown. Add mushrooms, parsley, tomato sauce, tomatoes, salt, oregano, pepper, basic and bay leaf. Cover and simmer for 1 hour. Uncover and cook for about 1/2 hour longer, until sauce is desired consistency. Cook spaghetti as directed on the package; drain. Spoon meat sauce over spaghetti on platter or on individual plates.
More Recipes For You To Enjoy:Thanks for posting this favorite recipe of mine. 40 years ago in 1974 I married my husband whose mother is Italian & so just a few months into our marriage when I found this recipe on my Crisco can I clipped it and tried it out on my ‘1/2 Italian’ husband…he & I both liked it and I’ve made it throughout the years for our children and parents. Those, like my mother-in-law, who didn’t care for the mushrooms just picked them out & didn’t eat them.
Thanks again for sharing another great recipe, GOD BLESS
This is the “family recipe” for spaghetti that my mother used for at least 50 years. I’ve been using it all my married life (47 years) and my siblings all use it.
54 years ago I found this recipe on my Crisco can and decided to try it. My husband and I loved it. I have been using it ever since, although I had to increase the recipe since my 6 children all loved it and use it also!
