I’m not sure how old this recipe is but likely from the 1980’s to 2000 or so. The recipe is written in green ink on a festive recipe card and I found it in a large collection of recipes. The recipe card was tucked in a plastic bag with a sample ornament (this is like a gingerbread but not edible). The ornament still smells very cinnamon! Recipe is typed below along with a scanned copy.
Cinnamon Ornaments
Makes: 12
RecipeCurio Note: 4.12 ounces would be about 117 gram bag of cinnamon.
More Recipes For You To Enjoy:I’m wondering why we’d want to make these. Do they make the tree smell good? I wouldn’t think the aroma would last more than one year, but maybe you just make new ones each year?
These make a “gingerbread” looking ornament and give the area a cinnamon smell (not just the tree). The ornament that came with this card still smelled nice and strong but it was stored in a sealed plastic bag so I’m sure that helped (and this ornament is YEARS old).
We grew up with several of these ornaments. They were my favorite to un-pack, year after year because they smelled so good. They are pure cinnamon, with applesauce to bind it together. I found this recipe in a search because I’m helping my kids make some to give as gifts this year. Honestly, after at least 20 years they still smell nice.
