This recipe was included in a promo sheet put out by Karo Syrup, date unknown but I’d guess 1970’s or 1980’s. Recipe is typed below along with a scanned copy.

More Recipes For You To Enjoy:I had lost this recipe, which I make every year, and was very upset. I was so happy to see it here. This is one of my family’s and friends favorite!
I collected this recipe from a women’s magazine in the ’70’s or 80’s. A family favorite! When we moved, my clipping got lost. I found it at Karo’s website about a year ago, but under a different name. They now call it Cherry Nut Thumbprint Cookies. They added salt, use cherry pie filling, but list candied cherries (which I prefer), as a variation. Thank you for the original.
Further comments on this recipe. Karo also changed it to using butter (prefered) , added vanilla and 1/2 cup more chopped nuts listing it as walnuts.
This recipe is still available at Karo’s website under the title Cherry Thumbprint Nut Cookies. They’ve ultered it a bit, adding vanilla and salt. Specifiying walnut, using butter or margarine, and canned cherry pie filling.
Thank you for sharing this recipe. I remember it from my childhood and am making it again this year.
