This recipe was written on a lined index card and found in a large collection, date unknown. I’ve typed it below along with a scanned copy (front side only).
Caramel Squares
350° – 30 min
Cream:
1/2 c butter
1/2 c white sugar
Mix in:
2 egg yolks
1 1/2 c flour
1 tsp baking powder
dash of salt & 1 tsp. vanilla
Spread into 8″ or 9″ square ungreased pan.
Beat together 2 egg whites & 1 c. br. sugar.
Mix in 1 c. chopped nuts (walnuts)
Spread over first mixture & bake.
