This recipe comes from a label that was removed from a can of Crisco, date unknown. Recipe is typed below along with a scanned copy.
VANILLA FROSTING
(Frosts two 8- or 9-inch layers or a 13 x 9-inch cake)
1/4 cup Crisco
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons vanilla
3 cups confectioners sugar (sift if lumpy)
1/4 cup milk
In a bowl mix Crisco, salt, vanilla and about 1/3 of the sugar. Add milk and remaining sugar alternately; mix until smooth and creamy. Add more sugar to thicken or milk to thin frosting if needed for good spreading consistency.

My mother taught me how to make this simple but very tasty frosting some 50 years ago. Very light texture and handy if you don’t have butter on hand.
My mom used to make a frosting that had pudding and Crisco. I have looked everywhere for it and can not find it.
Here’s the pudding, Crisco icing..
3 or 4 oz pudding mix
2/3 cp Crisco
1 tsp vanilla
1 cp milk
1/2 cp powdered sugar

Ingredients
1 box cook vanilla pudding
1 cup milk
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup Crisco
1/2 stick butter
1 tsp vanilla
Directions:
Cook pudding and milk until comes to a boil. Cool completely.
In large bowl mix sugar, crisco, butter, and vanilla until creamy.
When pudding is cool, mix both pudding and sugar mixture together until creamy
