This is an old handwritten recipe written on a white index card that has aged and yellowed a bit. It must have been a family favorite since there are ingredient quantities provided for three different sizes of the cake. Date is unknown. Recipe is typed below as-is along with a scanned copy that you can click to view larger.

This looks great, and I love the handwritten recipes! I’m putting this on my list of recipes to try for my husband, and for family gatherings I think this would be good.

Glad to find a Hickory Nut Cake recipe. My Dad’s 96th. BD is Monday and he has talked about this cake since I was a kid. He grew up in So. Texas and they made Hickory Nut cake alot. I do not recall seeing or hearing about this nut though, only from him. The wonders of the internet. He will be tickled pink! Thanks!
